What Is Direct Cremation?

A direct cremation is also known as a no-service cremation or a no-attendance cremation. Direct cremations are a simple & affordable alternative to a traditional funeral, without an accompanying ceremony or memorial service included. The cremation takes place as soon as possible, with the ashes being delivered to the family in a scatter tube, urn, or organised to be personally collected from a crematorium.

As an unattended cremation service, no family or friends are present and it provides all of the fundamental components of a traditional cremation without the cost of paying for things that are not needed, such as elaborate floral arrangements, transport, celebrant fees, venue hire, or catering.

Our affordable Direct Cremation Gold Coast package ensures that you don’t need to worry about any hidden costs. Our caring team will take care of all the necessities, from documentation & transportation of your loved one, to the cremation, and organising the collection of ashes, for total peace of mind.

Why Do People Choose Direct Cremations?

All Farewells Direct Cremation services are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to traditional burial or funeral services. They allow for a meaningful and respectful farewell without the need to plan a service within a matter of days following your loved one’s passing.

Our trustworthy and caring team is here to provide dignified and respectful unattended cremations that are tailored to your needs and budget.

As a leading provider of compassionate direct cremation services in and around the Gold Coast, our team of funeral and cremation planners will work with you to ensure that your loved one’s final wishes are respected. Say farewell with a simple Direct Cremation Gold Coast service by All Farewells – enquire now.

Unlike traditional funeral services involving a church service & memorial or graveside procession, a direct cremation is a cremation without a funeral. Instead, your loved one is cremated shortly after passing away, and the ashes are returned or collected by the family.

At All Farewells, we make it easy for families to remember their loved ones in a personal, sincere and meaningful way. Our professional Direct Cremation Gold Coast service allows you to hold your own memorial service for your loved one in your own time or organise to scatter their ashes in a meaningful place at a later date.

What happens at an unattended cremation

What Is The Difference Between Cremation & Direct Cremation?

A direct or no service cremation is a simple way to honour your loved one’s memory. The main difference between traditional cremation and direct cremation is the timeline between the date of passing and the cremation taking place.

Unlike traditional full-service cremations which involve a funeral service, the deceased is transferred directly to a crematorium for cremation. The ashes are then delivered or collected by the family, who can arrange their own celebration of life or memorial service, or the scattering of ashes. This allows for a more intimate and personal way of saying goodbye.

At All Farewells, we provide tailored direct cremation services that are customised to the needs of each individual family and strive to make the process as easy as possible during this difficult time. Contact us now to learn more about our direct cremation services.

Testimonials

I would recommend Steve at All Farewells, if and when the time comes for a funeral. My father passed, and although my sister and I were overwhelmed and confused, Steve was there within the hour comforting and taking control. Steve made things so easy, organising all the paperwork, the funeral, as per our wishes, and the cremation. Steve even hand-delivered the death certificate and ashes as soon as they came through. I can’t thank Steve enough, and recommend to anyone when the time comes, to call Steve directly for outstanding & quality service, at a very competitive price!

My darling Dad passed away aged 89. It was an incredibly emotional time for me but was completely stress free because Steve handled all aspects of his funeral with the utmost grace and dignity. Paperwork, flowers, memorial slide show, casket, church service and notifications etc, I didn't have to worry about anything. I delivered Dad's eulogy and was a bit spooked when I had to stand up in front of 250 people, Steve encouraged and supported me all the way. I cannot recommend Steve Riding and All Farewells highly enough and am ever so grateful to have such good memories of a 'celebration of life' that was conducted without any dramas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common FAQs regarding direct cremations. We’re available 24/7
to discuss our Direct Cremation Gold Coast services so feel free to get in touch!

What is the difference between cremation and direct cremation?

Direct cremation is a cost-effective and simple alternative to traditional funerals. It involves an unattended cremation, without any additional costs, with the deceased being transported directly to a crematorium instead of having a funeral.

Many families are opting for direct cremations to reduce expenses or keep the focus on their loved ones, without the stress or additional cost of planning a funeral service. Organise a meaningful and respectful farewell with All Farewells now, discover more about our direct cremation services or get in touch about our prepaid cremations today.

When do I receive the ashes after a direct cremation?

Following the cremation, All Farewells will organise the most suitable means of returning your loved one’s ashes. The time it takes can vary, however, we strive to deliver or organise the collection of the ashes within 72 hours & can also post the ashes if required.

When and how do I receive a death certificate?

Your loved one’s passing needs to be registered and an official death certificate from the office of QLD Births, Deaths and Marriages will be issued. As your chosen cremation planner, All Farewells will organise this on your behalf.

From the time of cremation, we typically advise a wait time of 2-3 weeks. Once we receive it, we’ll post the death certificate to you, along with certified copies if requested.

Why do I need a death certificate?

Each state in Australia has its own guidelines which tell you how to go about registering a death. Typically, a death certificate is required before the administration of a Will can take place & you’ll also need this to cancel any bills, bank accounts, utilities and administer other parts of the estate.

Do you need a coffin for a direct cremation?

A direct cremation involves a simple cardboard coffin, rather than a solid timber coffin. Chat with us today to discuss our coffin options.

Can I still have a memorial service if I get a direct cremation?

Of course! Many of our clients choose to have a memorial service for their loved ones after a direct cremation. Although they are unattended cremations, you can still gather with family and friends to remember and celebrate your loved one’s life and memory afterwards. Many people organise this with a funeral director. However, alternatively, you can plan your own memorial service for your loved one in your own time. Learn more about our locations and suitable funeral venues on the Gold Coast, South Brisbane & Northern NSW.

Do I need a burial plot for a cremation?

No, you do not need one. Families have the freedom to choose how they want to honour their loved one’s memory. Some opt for a permanent memorial location or headstone to visit, while others prefer scattering the ashes in a special place or keeping the ashes close in an urn at home. The decision is ultimately yours.
