The costs for a cremation and funeral differ, and each individual is unique with costs changing depending on added services – e.g. if you choose to opt for a traditional wooden coffin, rather than cardboard, this will be an additional cost.

The normal turnaround time from the crematorium is 72 hours. However, in urgent circumstances, a 24-hour request can be made to the crematorium.
The Gold Coast City Council have a number of cemeteries and all have areas where ashes placement is possible. Their staff will guide you through the process and will arrange for the placement and will organise the plaque to be installed.
Ordering a grave is generally done by funeral directors, however, the family can actually select a particular area and grave. This applies to the Gold Coast City Council, Brisbane City Council and any regional Councils or private cemeteries.
If a family already owns a grave, All Farewells can arrange to have this grave re-opened to coincide with the funeral time.
Whatever the circumstances, if possible try to think clearly, as emotions will tend to cloud your thoughts. If someone passes away in a hospital or nursing facility, you will need to contact a funeral director of your choice to organise everything for you.
Where a death is sudden or in the family home and the deceased has not seen a Doctor for some time, the paramedics will need to be called. In turn, the paramedics will call the police who will ascertain if a Doctor will organise a cause of death certificate or whether the Coroner will need to be involved.
In most cases, a Coroner will authorise an examination of the deceased and so it would be a number of days before the deceased is released into the care of a funeral director.
If the death is due to natural causes or a coronial matter, it is advisable to contact a funeral director as soon as you feel comfortable, so that your requests can be organised.
The first question that relatives and friends will be asking is, when will the funeral be? For this reason it is advisable for you to have things in place as soon as you are able. All Farewells will apply for the original death certificate with Births, Deaths and Marriages. This process can take 2-3 weeks and will be posted to the family.
This is a difficult question to answer. It is always helpful if the person either stipulated their final wishes in their Will or discussed their preferences with a next of kin.
However, if the death was sudden or the person was uncomfortable with the idea of death, this likely did not happen. The best idea is to consider what your loved one’s beliefs, values and passions were in life.
For example, if they loved the ocean, being out on the water or were an avid nature lover – it would be a testament to their memory to opt for green burial or scattering ashes at sea.

Yes! All Farewells offers prepaid funerals and prepay cremation options. If you or your loved one is unwell or elderly, it might be wise to consider planning ahead and pre-paying for your funeral or cremation costs.
It not only eases the burden of cost and planning on your family during an incredibly difficult time, but also allows you to ensure that you will receive a service that most accurately reflects your final wishes.
Additionally, by choosing a prepaid funeral or cremation, the money allocated to this is exempted from the Assets Test, allowing you to continue receiving pension payments. While it is not always possible to prepay, consider this option if you have the time and means to do so.
